Inside Dave’s Fuel Altered V-8 after Catastrophic Connecting Rod Failure

Our 1948 Topolino @#%$# it`s pants as it spilled melted parts, fuel and oil onto the track. The Camera Man got an unexpected suntan and the heat did melt the camera micro-phone cover… Oops!

Sorry – Race fans… this kind of incident does slow down the day as track maintenance teams had to clean up our spill and we spoiled some very expensive parts.  So, what did this do to the Car? See for yourself, here are the pictures after we opened it up.

And Yes! The Driver and Crew are Fine….Thanks for Asking. And what is the the estimated cost to repair this little mishap?  A Modest Amount? Say About $20K – Not Bad, Not Bad… ( Yea… That’s what we said. ) “Ouch“.

    1. Hey there Tosha,

A word of thanks for your kind comment. The quality of thought that you yourself put into the message posted in May of 2017 – that friendly dialogue is greatly appreciated.

Not sure how it is we didn’t find time to send this reply before today.
